My Soul

Image
I look into my soul; this endless depth! Much deeper than the Mariana, Much wider than the Sahara And unhindered by the sky Yet sandwiched in this less than sizable Form, which must someday rot! I see the true definition of sadness, The full expression of joy, the resilience Of the spirit in defeat, The exuberance of glee. I see that which will outlive this Mundane man, that which will reawake Somewhere much better than here, Though I believe here, for I live here. I believe in the power of the soul, silent And potent – constrained only by transient tissues, Water and the fears of man I look into my soul and I see A path unwind into ceaseless realities That not even time will contend; I see my soul; faceless, timeless, Enless. jUDE iFEME   Subscribe to POETICALLY SPOKEN by Email

How To Stay Faithful In A Relationship

Image
Faithfulness in a relationship is not about your faith or religion, but a personal resolve to stay true to a partner in spite of other distractions. It is about the will of an individual; unwavering and undivided. I emphasize on the will or mind because some of the greatest battles of man are fought in the mind, once the mind is defeated; the physical fight becomes a mere exercise of muscles. The habit of staying faithful to a single partner though can start at anytime but is best started before one is committed for the long run. One must learn to content one’s desires with a single partner. People who double date for fun, or care less about commitment in their youth may find it difficult to stay with any single partner at any given time, those who indulge in lustful and carefree philosophies would have developed a mindset that does not permit commitment. It has been suggested in some quarters that people should love themselves or they’d never be able to truly

"THE BOAT" (FOOD FOR THOUGHT)

Image
Man has argued and killed over land, ever since the beginning of time. I believe that we can not take claim to anything that was here before us- just thank its creator. As a matter of fact, I believe that everything and everybody would be where it and they should be, now, if some genius hadn’t sculpt the boat. BY: Arthur C. ROWANI

Image
My mother told me trouble doesn’t know when to choose, so she chooses the wrong time; not because she hates us but because she doesn’t know when to choose. “You are pregnant,” Aunty Misiu had told me.   I was afraid, I thought only mothers got pregnant, “why am I pregnant?” “Because you father has been having sex with you,” she replied. Sex. Was that it? That’s one word I have only heard in hushed voices, but today Aunty Misiu had said it to me like it was the only word worth mentioning. But why did it make her cry? Aunty Misiu never cried, she was strong and every child in Dandata feared her. My name is Rowani, I will soon be thirteen years old. I am about to have my father’s baby. My aunt Doro suggested I’d be married off to Donkali, the shoemaker, but Aunty Misiu had objected. Aunty Misiu said I was too young to be anyone’s wife. My mother said it would kill her to tell the world what my father did to me, but Aunty Misiu said my mother looks dead already.
