If You Will Ever Change Your Partner

Image
One of the most elusive accomplishments one can achieve in a relationship is to change the individuality of one’s partner. It is soul sapping, to say the least. Except one want to live in perpetual frustration they should not venture into that. This is not to say that people do not change, they do. But people change out of conviction on things that are in line with their inner beliefs. People change because they do not want to relearn certain lessons of life. People change for greater purpose, when their soul is rightly touched. If one is ever going to change out of another person’s influence, it would be their act, not their art. People are most likely to change because of how you honestly live than your theatrics. Since people are most averse to active enforcement, it is better to be passive, otherwise resentment would be stirred up, or outright pretense activated. The worst situation a relationship ever is when a partner resolves to pretending as a way avoiding confrontation....

Old Ways

Image
OLD WAYS Eve ry story will grow old, So will every song And every face; Every city will grow old, So will its might And its men And their hold On other men. Someday new melodies Will be sung about old songs; New tales about old stories, About old cities, About old men, About old ways they'd briefly reigned. Sucess or failure? The choice is yours.

Only a few of us will get to ever truly live life. The rest will follow their every line of thought, whim, will satisfy their every desire; and all they’ll ever need is express them. These few will be like the source for all men because they do things rightly. Man, though created to think and become, resigns to pursing the easy way through life, ironically the paths mostly perceived to be easy are indeed the most difficult and most fulfilling. The mind of man is one with the universe, and nothing is denied to one that is given to the other except one does not know how to ask or how to receive. Our dreams, our passions and fears constantly mold what we call our destiny. We fail to note that our destinations in life are in a constant flux, always responding to our decisions and actions. While some will always be rich and others poor, it is by no means the fault of the rich that the poor lacks, except when one steals directly from the rest which should then be treated...

Why do you give?

Image
Photo credit Give, not to people who can give back to you; not to people who will become subservient in their honest efforts to show gratitude. And not to sycophants, men whose tongue can't taste their heart. Give to people who will think you an angel because they'll never see you again. Give to someone who will feel divinity in your act and call it that singular deed a miracle. They don't see you, they see the love. Though it is rare for man to truly help another without helping his own interest(s). But giving can only be true when we give out virtue and expect nothing. Be wary of them who, though may not expect money for their money: they ride on the wings of adulation; their reward is indeed paid in praise, and nothing more. Besides worship, what can man of dust give to God who enriches man to give to his fellows? How do you call it giving when you are only building a mansion for your self in heav...

Contentment: Why do we desire the things that aren't ours

Image
The things that appeal to us the most are those we never had. That lover that didn’t stay. That child we couldn’t raise. The union we had and lost; and when we do grow old, we tend to miss most of all the things we never did, while the ones we did once do and cherished are sometimes carelessly relegated to the background. We do desire - sometimes to a point obsession -  those things we never had mostly because they didn’t get the chance to disappoint us just as the ones we have had our hands wrapped around did. Just because we never got to familiarize with them, we tend to live on considering them perfect and most worthy. That love you never had could have made you perfect; the promising chap who died young could have changed the world; if you ever did harken to your desire to leave where you are now you could have become rich and famous or happier: yes, you 'could' have. But you could also have died or been imprisoned, or even c...

Ended Oppression

Image
I'm an outcast in your judgment; A dropout from your school of thought. I’m that fool made out of your crafty designs - You know, I'll never get it right. I'm lost, wretched, But I’m not humanity's garbage! I'm only a visible manifestation Of your endless castigation; And I’ve have come a long way. I’ve left my smile miles behind, Fed my laments to your hankering demons, And my torments I've worn like a better skin.                                   I am that pie abandoned in the rain To rot into a billion bits, But my molecules won't go up in a fouled air: I've become a figurine of your nightmare, A cornerstone of your paranoia, A death you didn’t will come. I’m slow. Your creation has found liberation.   © Jude I...

Marriage Made In Heaven

There's divinity in most things we do - that power beyond us setting the posts and shapening the fields - which only leaves us to marvel or grapple. But the success of anything we do will largely, or always, depend on the amount of dedication we put in, and marriage is not an exception. The success of every marital union will depend on the level of mutual acceptance shared by the couple involved, the time invested, the love and sacrifice both individuals may be willing to give.  Marriage is not a place where you come to meet prepared solutions, or hope to automatically have your life  transformed by its shere pronouncements, or even get instant  rehabilitation from the emotional or lustful wretched you were just yesterday. Much as marriage can help in your general psychological appreciation, one must have had a previous determination to change, or must have started a workout on their character to enjoy meaningful transformation.  There is no marriage made in heav...

A Ghetto Lane

An indignant ewe wrestles A randy ram, a cock rapes A reluctant hen, an old man Gropes a minor's crotch; It's evening on a ghetto lane - Hawkers slowly return to roost. Nightfall is a wakeup call, Darkness a friend to all ; Who knows, it might rapture Tonight, but there's lust in every Vein, every tongue craves a hotter Drink, haven comes here every night. In a darker end is a lone voice, Lewd lyrics crooned, an Angel's Tone. Someday the world will sing Along - not all bad on ghetto lanes. © Jude Ifeme

SPEAK

Image
An old and tired man says; say what you will and the world will remain the same – I met it so and I guess I will leave it so. A look at the sky, another at the earth – bear witness, if you will! A world molded by deed of words will indeed be transformed by words. A ghetto child not fed by his dream, a desolate woman starving mouths to feed; a young girl sells dignity for food – soul buried in needs. Wars fought by peaceful men urged and used by deceitful men, nations built on corpses and blood –    truth pushed beyond our reach. Hushed voices speak within. Eyes quick turned to the left. Voices silenced by greed – bedraggle consciences rule our lives. The truth beckons, what will you become? Will you let no one choice your path? Speak and wrench the earth from waste. Speak woman, speak child; speak on your way to the grave and leave nothing left unsaid. © Jude ifeme

Who Are You?

Image
Subscribe to POETICALLY SPOKEN by Email It does not always follow that because it is one’s body then they are content with it. For this very reason people will go for all manners of body jobs; reconstruct the person they are into that they wish they were, become shadows or false replicas – at ease with flaunting appendages.   Except filled, we go about with one form of discontent or the other; mostly probing and desiring more than acknowledging and accepting that things are made for reasons, and that there is a purpose for even the most insignificant – and that uniqueness is the beauty behind the creation of man. Except for a few close calls, we are widely different, not just in looks but in thoughts; we are meant to be different. Sadly, there will always be that tendency to want to be like someone else because of our emotion-blurred perception of the superiority of their form or worth. In the kind of world we live in today – a world where corporations decide what i...
