Keeping Faith

Image
More and more, and more times in life challenges will be thrown at you. It doesn’t matter how strong you are; it doesn’t matter how big your faith is – you are brought to a place of doubt, a place where questions dwell more than answers. It could be that you have suffered rejection, given your all and a lot more only to have all your good deeds and kindly intentions thrown back at your face, and it hurts. Not only does it but your rejecter moves on like life just got even better. It could be that that you have lost your source of livelihood, your worth reversed, ego shattered and you have to look up to those who once looked up to you. It could be you’ve been robbed by death – a loved one taken away at such prematurity. And all you are left with are memories, questions, and fragments of a thing that used to be a whole. SPEAK

Image
An old and tired man says; say what you will and the world will remain the same – I met it so and I guess I will leave it so. A look at the sky, another at the earth – bear witness, if you will! A world molded by deed of words will indeed be transformed by words. A ghetto child not fed by his dream, a desolate woman starving mouths to feed; a young girl sells dignity for food – soul buried in needs. Wars fought by peaceful men urged and used by deceitful men, nations built on corpses and blood –    truth pushed beyond our reach. Hushed voices speak within. Eyes quick turned to the left. Voices silenced by greed – bedraggle consciences rule our lives. The truth beckons, what will you become? Will you let no one choice your path? Speak and wrench the earth from waste. Speak woman, speak child; speak on your way to the grave and leave nothing left unsaid. © Jude ifeme

To Be (Poem)

Image
To be in the world A place at a time, never more! To walk the earth, high or low, Wasted or restored, to live. To feel like a god, like a king Or a mere presence, soon forgotten. To stare death in the eyes And again be rudely reminded Of your very impermanence!
