Going Nowhere

It is about wings that flap

but cannot fly; giants and pigmies –

pigmies in giant strides,

giants walking the  pigmy’s path.

It’s about you, about I, about us –

schooled by a glorious anthem,

bent to our utopist thoughts,

and ravaged by our saviors.

It is about wings that flap

but cannot fly; about going gray

on a toddler’s feet, about messiahs   

prophesied by the godless.
