The Worth of A Woman

Image
She sat there all day long Longing, sobbing … The world only a little space When you let your mind race All your past seen in a tiny flash And all the pains unwrap in one gash And nothing is so true – Every truth straggles between lies The worth of a woman   Can only be seen in retrospect When she sees the man And can’t feel her self-respect ©Jude Ifeme Subscribe to POETICALLY SPOKEN by Email

Man Without Enemies

Image
His smile was broad His whisper loud Where he’d been What he’d seen… Stare into his eyes They held no lies If the world cried His heart had bled Such was his saintly soul And that death stole A man so much acclaimed His corpse lies yet unclaimed © Jude Ifeme Subscribe to POETICALLY SPOKEN by Email

THE REFLECT

Image
There are times when you sit back and wonder if you have taken the best decisions in life. At such times, you are bound to seek vindication where there may be none, assert self -validation if no one validates your action, consider vengeance to get on par, or simply succumb to the trudge of regret.  To arrive here, you must have hit one of life’s many treacherous brick walls. And it is hard to simply gather oneself and move on, especially when you are not yet decided whether your actions are right or wrong, if you have acted in weakness or in wisdom.  I have come to understand that some of the trickiest issues in life can arise in friendship. First is deciding how far to grant a person access to your personal life. And then, determining how far to go, or not to, in the event of a betrayal. Irrespective of the duration of a relationship, the slap from a trusted friend can hurt far more than a blow from an enemy.  At times like this, one is left to wonder if there real...

Poem: Like The Cactus

Image
I want to breathe like the Cactus; I want to stay  unfazed knowing though I may be the only green in a thousand miles. Pulp on the inside spikes on the outside; I want to be unaffected by frown or applause; Cast little care for judgments or day-brings But live like death is on a long, long sabbatical. I want to make music out of wind-howls; Sit tight on shifting sands Refuse to hide or beg the sun. And when there is rain again I want to glance at that modicum of hope And not hold on to its flitting joy. ©Elo Jude Ifeme Subscribe to POETICALLY SPOKEN by Email Get the My Triond Articles widget and many other great free widgets at Widgetbox ! To Be (Poem)

Image
To be in the world A place at a time, never more! To walk the earth, high or low, Wasted or restored, to live. To feel like a god, like a king Or a mere presence, soon forgotten. To stare death in the eyes And again be rudely reminded Of your very impermanence! Things Are Not The Same

Image
Each day as I drove to work, I got slowed in this recurrent traffic jam on the major road, and because it was always about the same segment of the road, perhaps I came to the mental acceptance of the daily routine as the same. Once in a while I would catch-up with someone I knew or some vehicle I have subconsciously memorized. I even learned to efficiently navigate the road without consciously looking out for the bends and potholes. Today it struck me, that much as I knew this road, thought I understood the flow of traffic and its composition; that I was missing something very vital, though ostensibly insignificant! Although each day seemed the same on the surface, they had their glaring peculiarities. Never again in this life will the same cars file out in exactly the same order, on this same road. Never again will the same people, dressed in the same way, sit on the same spots, in the same posture on this same road. Never again will the same pedestrians stand or loiter in exact...

FLYING BLIND

Image
We rise, without a wing – Like the queen and king Of love and romance In the eye of bow of love we dance We trading kisses, sweet lies Pleasures unbound alive in our eyes The world blooming with waves of passion We fondling away, unhindered emotion All darkness lit without a light All sensual hits this timeless night We rise, without a wing – Like the queen and king Of love and romance – In the eye of bow of love we dance Casting all doubts and fear for t’morrow Living like life’s lost all sorrow © 2011, Jude Ifeme Subscribe to POETICALLY SPOKEN by Email Get the My Triond Articles widget and many other great free widgets at Widgetbox !
